As a student at Burnside High, I used to cross the road to the Jellie Park swimming pools. It was a great place to play, get fit, and connect with friends.
Fast forward fifteen years, and I was taking my family to Jellie Park. Again, for fun, for fitness, and for community connection.
Twenty more years, and our City Council pools are still an amazing resource for our community: again, for fun, fitness and connection.
That's why The People's Choice is committed to making entry to our Council swimming pools free for children twelve and under: we want families to be able to receive the full benefit of our great resource.
And in doing so, we're helping strengthen our communities. The small income lost by this initiative is more than outweighed by the community benefits of stronger ties, fitter children, and people having fun together. Studies show that closer communities have reduced graffiti, reduced petty crime, and safer streets. It's a win-win all round.
The People's Choice: committed to policies that strengthen our communities.
